The existing Pain Office Building, adjacent to campus, recently became home to the Nursing program for Ivy Tech Community College in Bloomington. Open and closed offices were transitioned into classrooms and labs—enabling the college to accommodate the growing life sciences area of study. Two classrooms, a computer lab, a simulation lab, and a skills lab all help to bring this underutilized building back to vibrancy! The lounge spaces allow the students and faculty a place to study between classes and interact throughout the day. The hands-on simulation and skills labs create spaces for students to easily transfer from study space directly to the workplace.

“The simulation puts the students at the bed side with a non-human and we re-create the entire scenario like they are in the hospital without putting any patients at risk.”
