At Schmidt Associates, construction administration (CA) is how we protect what matters most to our Owners: your vision, your quality standards, and your timeline. It is not just about managing construction. It is about making sure what is built truly reflects what was designed while keeping the construction process focused, coordinated, and adaptable from start to finish.
Our hands-on approach ensures nothing gets lost in translation, and the Owner’s goals remain the guiding force from groundbreaking to grand opening.
Advocates in the Field
Construction administrators serve as the critical link between the design team, contractor, and Owner. Their role ensures:
- Design intent is faithfully executed
- Construction meets or exceeds quality expectations
- Schedules and budgets stay on track
- Field challenges are resolved collaboratively and quickly
- Communication remains open and transparent
- The Owner’s vision is protected every step of the way

How the Work Comes to Life
Rob Henry, a recent addition to our CA team, began his path to construction administration early. Raised in Louisville, he spent his youth helping family members on job sites and working the family farm. There, he learned the value of showing up, staying committed, and getting the job done right.
“We have all got a lane somewhere,” Rob said. “It is just a matter of finding the right team and the right fit, and I am so lucky and thankful I landed here.”
After years managing one of the state’s busiest hospital campuses, Rob brought his facility expertise and Owner’s perspective to Schmidt Associates. He was drawn by the firm’s people-first culture, where collaboration and doing the right thing are standard practice.
From walking job sites and coordinating trades to reviewing submittals and troubleshooting field conditions, Rob thrives in the dynamic, boots-on-the-ground nature of CA.
“No two days are the same, and that is what energizes me,” he said.
Where Communication Builds Trust
At the heart of effective CA is communication, and that is where our team stands apart. For Rob, it all starts by listening, “We have open conversations with Owners about what drives them,” he said. “That helps us communicate better, solve problems quicker, and align the whole team.”
Robin Leising, who has been with Schmidt Associates for more than 20 years, shares that mindset. Her approach emphasizes empathy, clarity, and team-based problem solving.

That collaborative spirit defines the CA studio, where experience is shared freely and partnership drives results.
When Stakes Are High, Partnership Matters
That alignment was essential on large, high-stakes projects such as the Indiana Farm Bureau Fall Creek Pavilion. At one point, a buried fiber line threatened to delay a critical stormwater installation, but the issue was resolved without sacrificing schedule, thanks to quick coordination and clear roles.

And for veteran Tom Stapleton, it was not just about the process. It was about the impact. “One of the biggest wins was the Pavilion’s future role in serving the community,” he said. “I look forward to walking through the building with my kids and saying, ‘Dad built this.’”
What Sets Us Apart
Unlike firms that fold construction oversight into other roles, Schmidt Associates assigns a dedicated construction administrator to every project. It is part of our commitment to accountability, clarity, and Owner-focused delivery.
“When you reach the end of a project and see how it benefits the user or the community, it is incredibly rewarding,” Robin said.
What CA Brings to the Owner
For our Owners, having a dedicated CA means fewer surprises, better quality control, and confidence that your vision will be delivered without compromise. It helps keep the project on track while ensuring it responds to challenges and delivers lasting value to the people it is meant to serve.
Construction Administration is more than oversight. It is stewardship. At Schmidt Associates, our CA team draws on deep experience to lead with empathy and stay focused on delivering what matters most.
