This project was a combination of a life-cycle cost analysis with a high-level, on-site assessment to create a building-by-building and system-by-system projected lifespan, current cost implications, and projected inflationary impact. The Schmidt Associates team created a comprehensive Renewal and Replacement (R&R) Summary with associated costs for 42 University of Kentucky-owned buildings that were identified by the University’s facility team. The study predicted R&R funding needed for the next 15 years and prioritized based on condition, building, and system rating. Schmidt Associates also provided a database of building data, system descriptions/current conditions, completed projects over the last 15 years, and projected renewal and replacement costs that can be referenced by facilities staff and updated and modified in the future. Our team created an internal benchmark to evaluate completion of R&R projects over the next 15 years.
