Schmidt Associates has been privileged to serve MSD of Lawrence Township on multiple projects as they seek to provide equity and academic excellence at every one of their buildings. At Sunnyside Elementary, the Schmidt Associates team had an aggressive timeline and budget to renovate portions of the building and strategically place small building additions—all in an occupied facility. The project ultimately included construction of additional academic spaces, including classrooms, enlarging/improving student spaces (including repurposing space to create project-based innovation labs), and a new front entry and administrative space. Other improvements included providing organizational clarity in the building layout, enhanced safety and security updates, and modernized systems and finishes.
