With a need for a modern workplace appropriately reflective of the design work of the firm, Schmidt Associates set out on an adaptive reuse project of the second floor of the Stoneware Building in Louisville’s Paristown development. The new facility features both open and private offices, plentiful collaboration areas, focus rooms, and a community/break area. The office is centered around a collaboration lab outfitted with multiple forms of technology and monitors—a space that allows for full-team input, design, and quality control to happen in real-time. The office design combines the abundant natural light with the juxtaposition of the historic facility and modern technology to create a space that is functionally appropriate and reflective of the culture of the firm.
