Protsman Elementary School

Protsman Elementary was designed as a replacement to an existing elementary school to create a sense of openness and transparency, showcasing student achievement and celebrating collaborative learning. Designed to be flexible and adaptable, the facility is able to adapt and conform to a wide variety of educational opportunities. Ample fenestration and well-placed interior window walls at the media center and cafeteria allow natural light to flood into the interior learning environments. The entry is a welcoming canopy that is clearly visible and understood when approaching the site, and a lighter masonry color contributes to a welcoming feel that integrates into the surrounding neighborhood. A new, highly efficient, VRF mechanical system contributes to both a comfortable and controllable environment, as well as remarkable cost savings in operational expenses. Perhaps most importantly, Protsman Elementary gives back to the community by providing activity and meeting spaces that can be isolated from the academic spaces, enabling it to function as a total learning and engaging environment.
