Recognizing a need for additional kindergarten classroom space, Noblesville Schools called upon Schmidt Associates to design a four-classroom addition. The resulting construction blends seamlessly into the existing facility, mimicking the design cues from the remainder of the building—from matching exterior materials to the vestibule created at the end of the hallway. The new classrooms have shared restrooms between each of them as well as storage for teachers. The roof was extended beyond the addition and connects to the existing school to provide a covering over an open-air vestibule, creating shaded outdoor space adjacent to the playground providing an opportunity for outdoor instruction.
