Constantly striving to ensure an adequate workforce to accommodate the needs of local communities, Ivy Tech Community College teamed with Schmidt Associates to expand their nursing and healthcare lab spaces in Madison. The existing facility was renovated as part of a two-phase project. The first phase created home healthcare simulation space and a paramedic lab. These spaces mimic a typical apartment, training the future professionals how to operate within a home setting for in-home therapy, nursing, etc. The paramedic lab features a mock ambulance, helping to train future paramedics in the art of mobile treatment. The second phase renovated existing space to create 10 new training beds and four new simulation suites. The simulation suites provide students spaces comparable to their future working environments, complete with a head wall and full bed. Each suite also has a control room with window access. Updated office, restrooms, kitchenette, and storage space were also included in the renovations.
