The new Northview Middle School serves 1,050 students and replaced the existing middle school on the North Central High School campus, allowing the simultaneous expansion of the High School on its campus. Developed on 60 acres, the construction of Northview Middle School also includes new athletic fields, including football, soccer, tennis, baseball, and softball.
Designed to enhance middle school students’ learning and physical and mental well-being, our design process included working with students, staff, and the community in gaining input for enhanced ownership and a sense of pride. The resulting facility features grade-level pods that have grade-specific classrooms, teacher “think tanks” for teacher collaboration as well as resource rooms, student, and staff restrooms. The building is zoned to provide clear definition and control between academic spaces and event/community spaces. The building interior is designed to celebrate the neighborhood where it sits and school spirit with a finish palette based on the school brand and colors.
The completion of Northview Middle School was the final step in providing equity of space and learning environments to all three middle schools in the district.
