New Bethel Elementary School is a new two-story building designed to accommodate 700 kindergarten through second grade students. The building features a tall, light-filled central corridor running from the building administration area near the main entrance to a smaller cross hallway at the academic wings. The corridor is flanked with the gymnasium and cafetorium. Art, music, and a maker space line the second floor of the cross corridor, with the media center positioned to overlook the cafetorium. Outside, the site has two playgrounds, staff and visitor parking, bus and car rider pickup and drop-off areas, and an outdoor seating area off the cafetorium. The project also included extending utilities to the underdeveloped site and coordinating with the City of Indianapolis on associated road modifications.
