Initially designed as an elongated and narrow stadium, the football field and track needed a comprehensive renovation. Schmidt Associates oversaw the refurbishment of the field and reconfiguration of its layout to adhere to more conventional standards. The field received new turf, accompanied by the installation of a fresh running track, high jump, and long jump pits.
In place of the previously problematic concrete stands, new metal grandstands were erected, and an additional press box, complete with audio and visual technology, was constructed for enhanced functionality.
Following the successful renovation of the athletic fields, design began on a multi-purpose building to serve their athletes. This new facility includes restrooms and concessions as well as locker rooms for both home and visiting teams. Designed with flexibility in mind, the building features a spacious lobby area that can serve as both circulation space and a hospitality venue with a curtainwall offering views of the field’s activities. Additionally, the exterior of the building includes a restroom and drinking fountain outside of the stadium fence to support the nearby tennis courts. The facility provides much-needed storage space for athletic equipment.
