Kentucky Exposition Center Expansion
Beginning with a comprehensive facility conditions assessment, current and future state programming, and master planning effort, Phase I of the Kentucky Exposition Center project lays the groundwork for an ambitious vision to celebrate Kentucky’s agricultural heritage, promote education, and boost regional tourism.
At the heart of the first phase is a new 350,000-SF multi-purpose building, anchored by 280,000 SF of expo space and 50,000 SF of meeting rooms, food service, restrooms, and back-of-house areas. The one-story expo area will host a wide variety of events, from agriculture and livestock shows to expo-style and sports competitions. The 27-foot-tall expo area is framed by perimeter bump-outs housing secondary spaces and mechanical mezzanines. Key entrances on the northeast and southeast corners welcome visitors into the expansive facility.
Underscoring Kentucky’s commitment to agriculture and education, the new multi-purpose building will dramatically expand the “largest classroom in Kentucky,” where millions of visitors will learn about the latest in production agriculture and livestock management. Kentucky Venues produces events such as the National Farm Machinery Show, Kentucky State Fair, and North American International Livestock Exposition. These events, which will quickly grow into the new facility, position the Commonwealth as a leader in agriculture education and tourism, painting a bright future as a hub for learning, community, and world-class events.
