To establish itself as a premier educational facility for skilled trades training, Iroquois High School prioritized a comprehensive renovation of the Building Academy and Human Services Academy. This ambitious project aimed to enhance career pathway facilities with state-of-the-art upgrades to improve foundational technical knowledge and employability skills. Renovations expanded course offerings while allowing for the separation of lecture and lab spaces.
Architectural improvements included reconfiguring walls and equipment for improved workflow and supervision, installing new interior corridor windows for better visibility, and updating finishes to brighten the space and introduce new branding. Support spaces were also enhanced with increased storage, upgraded restrooms, new appliances for the life skills kitchen, a steel hoist system in welding, and a new canopy over the exterior teaching courtyard.
The project also addressed critical infrastructure upgrades, including new HVAC systems, reworked electrical systems, and updated plumbing with handwash stations, safety showers, utility sinks, and restrooms. Careful scheduling and phasing ensured the facility remained operational throughout construction.
