IMS AHU Refurbishment, Renovation, Controls Upgrade
As part of this $64 million dollar Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum renovation, the original custom air handling unit from the 1970s will be completely restored by installing new chilled water coils, and the existing vane-axial fans will be replaced with a fan array system designed for redundancy and energy efficiency. The existing dampers and damper actuators that are part of the large custom air handling unit will be replaced to bring back proper operation. The temperature controls in the facility will be completely replaced. The existing system was fully pneumatic with a simple DDC controller that operates the single central air handling unit. The central heating and cooling system will be replaced with a new highly efficient heat recovery chiller system that will save significant operating costs and operate quietly.
