The Science/Allied Health Building is devoted to nursing and allied health-related programs. One of the major goals of this project was to integrate this facility with the existing building (which also contained nursing and allied health programs) so the functions of both facilities could be shared. The team located the new construction in front of the existing building, creating a courtyard for outdoor activities. The east end of the existing building contained the cafeteria, which was enlarged and developed into a multi-purpose atrium space off the lobby. A pedestrian bridge spanning the atrium ties the new and existing buildings together, creating a structure that functions as one entity.
