This facility is programmed and designed to accommodate cardiovascular research in a collaborative bio-medical and bio-engineering environment. The University of Louisville and UofL Health are partners in this project and share space within this facility. The focus of the institute revolves around aspects of cardiovascular research and development of new implant devices, involving bio-engineering disciplines related to pediatrics, bioMEMS, biodevices, and biomaterials. A complete animal-surgical research facility is also housed at the basement level to support the institute.
