Regenstrief required a space to enhance and empower respected national and global researchers in collaboration with its IU partners. With input from multiple department units and project stakeholders, Schmidt Associates produced a plan for a tech-based and tech-rich learning space. The building offers flexible and transformational spaces to promote collaboration among researchers. Following a consensus-led approach, research units were organized by floor, providing scientists with research-rich spaces to collaborate by team, department, or as an institute.

“We are very pleased with the design and layout of the building. We had a set location and design when this project started but in the middle of the project, we had to change the location, which required Schmidt to redesign the project to incorporate unanticipated IU standards into the overall design. This lead to a higher quality building. Schmidt led the redesign process which went well in helping our organization scope the size and needs of our new building. They have been very responsive and helpful during the construction administration phase to adjust to many new requirements, including a Regenstrief Institute branding effort, that affected both the interior and exterior of the building.”
