Project Overview
Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana acquired the St. Vincent Hospital building in downtown Indianapolis to expand their course offerings and service a larger community. Schmidt Associates developed a design that upheld the integrity of the existing structure while providing multi-purpose, hands-on educational space. Technological considerations were given to encourage collaboration and community through digital signage, student organization space, food court, open computing labs and community rooms. The resulting building’s success is evident in its demand, immediately becoming the preferred scheduled and nonscheduled venue on campus. The unique learning environment is LEED Silver certified through its use of the air-cooled VRF system.
