Project Overview
Home to the University of Louisville’s Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute (CTSI), this building establishes an “academic home” for U of L clinical and translational researchers. This building helps advance their research excellence goals, as well as the ultimate goal of improving health outcomes for diverse populations across Kentucky and the region, particularly for the underrepresented and medically underserved. This is the third building in the University Research Complex, all designed and master-planned by our team.
The laboratory space was designed in flexible modules, which can be modified when the researcher using each laboratory was determined. Spaces for frequent interaction between researchers were included in the program.
The project achieved the United States Green Building Council’s LEED Gold Certification. When it was built, the facility was the first LEED-certified research building in Kentucky and the largest LEED New Construction Gold Certified research building in the country.
This project was completed in partnership with SmithGroup.
