As a secured facility, the guiding principle in the design of the building was separation of public and private functions. Public functions reside naturally on the main floor close to the main entrance. Privacy levels then increase as one circulates horizontally and vertically through the building. Clinical functions are located to the rears and upon the second floor. Clinical functions include exam/treatment, therapies, education, testing, assessment and admissions, labs, research, and pharmacy. Recreation and exercise facilities are close by. Administrative functions are located on the first floor and upon entering the third floor. The first floor includes outreach programs, an auditorium, and a courtroom, while the third floor contains offices, finance, HR, medical records, and risk management.
