The new center replaces outdated administrative offices with a purpose-built facility designed to serve both district leadership and the broader community. Located on the historic grounds of Fort Benjamin Harrison, the center is organized into two distinct zones: a secure administrative wing that supports daily operations and a flexible public-facing area anchored by a large, technology-enabled boardroom. Operable partitions, a catering kitchen, and adaptable layouts allow the space to seamlessly transition between board meetings, staff trainings, and community events.
A sunlit central corridor connects the building’s public and administrative areas, creating a welcoming spine that encourages connection and clarity of movement. The design reflects the historic character of the site through elements such as a gabled roof over the boardroom and landscaped rain gardens that support stormwater management. Inside, departments are organized to promote collaboration while maintaining appropriate privacy, and integrated design features—such as metal art panels depicting the district’s original high schools—celebrate Lawrence Township’s legacy while supporting its future growth.
