The Ivy Tech Lawrenceburg campus facility was constructed in 2004 and the rooftop-mounted HVAC units that provide heating, cooling, and ventilation for the building had surpassed life expectancy and needed replacement. In addition to the rooftop unit replacements, the Owner expressed concern with excessive noise on the upper floors of the building, clearly generated by the existing rooftop units and associated ductwork. Schmidt Associates’ engineering staff performed a detailed survey of the existing conditions to determine the best course forward. The new design included replacement rooftop units and a duct noise reduction system to greatly reduce the sound levels.
