Science, Art, and Administration Facilities Assessment
Faced with aging buildings operating on a centralized steam HVAC system, Goshen College leaders worked with Schmidt Associates to determine the effectiveness of converting the campus’s science, administration, and arts buildings from centralized steam HVAC to a standalone, more energy-efficient system. Additionally, the team was asked to evaluate deferred maintenance items for the buildings as well as selected programmatic improvements. The result was a master plan that outlines a series of capital projects that will address needed upgrades to building infrastructure, improved utilization, and overall life safety for occupants. As part of the study, Schmidt Associates worked with campus leadership to prioritize work with a detailed schedule and a plan to further enhance the Goshen College identity and student story in the lobby and hallways of the science building with the possibility of expansion into the administration and art buildings later.
