Through exterior restoration and an interior buildout, the historic PR Mallory factory has transformed into innovative learning spaces for the Paramount School of Excellence and Purdue Polytechnic High School. The project was an adaptive reuse of the building, restoring and reusing as much of the original structure and materials as possible. Coupled with modern design and wide open floor plans, features like exposed structural trusses, brick walls, and large steel doors were repaired and restored. The expansive windows were replaced with historic replicas throughout the space, framing great views of the Indianapolis skyline, pointing toward a bright future for the site as it once again becomes a community asset.
As the anchor in a larger neighborhood development plan, the team continues to work with PR Mallory and multiple designers to deliver even more community assets, such as spaces for small businesses and athletic and wellness amenities for the community, including working closely with DNR and the owner to secure the tax credits that made the project possible.
