Project Manager| Associate Eddie Layton, AIA, LEED AP, has been named one of 10 finalists in the Real Estate, Development, & Construction category for the  Junior Achievement of Central Indiana Indy’s Best and Brightest honor. Now in its 19^th year, the honors recognize up-and-coming talent in Central Indiana, and finalists are judged on their professional accomplishments and leadership qualities.

Layton joined Schmidt Associates as a project architect in 2016. After recognizing his abilities to lead teams, he was promoted to project manager | associate in 2019. Layton is responsible for overseeing some of the firm’s largest design projects, including Norwell Middle School, North Montgomery Schools, and Stoll Keenon Ogden, with grit, determination, and flawless execution. Beyond his client interactions and design responsibilities, he serves as a mentor to architects, engineers, and construction administrators.

Outside of work, Layton has demonstrated significant leadership qualities as a funding committee volunteer for NeighborLink, a volunteer youth soccer coach for the Mount Vernon Optimist Club, a team leader for CANstruction, and a camp volunteer for Camp to Belong. Additionally, he has participated in the AIAT Leadership Forum and is the recipient of the 2016 Sir Walter Raleigh Award for Community Appearance-3600 WFR,  the 2014 AIANC Honor Award for Alfred Williams & Co., the 2012 AIAT Merit Award for Alfred Williams & Co., and the 2007 Honorable Mention for the EPA Lifecycle Building Challenge for Community Revival Shelter with Greta Modesitt.
