Project Overview
The main switchboard that powered Ox Bow Elementary School was an old, fused 2,000A, 480Y/277V installation and had recently tripped. It needed to be rebuilt from spare parts before power could be restored to the building. There were also code clearance issues with the equipment across the path being too close. The existing switchboard contained an internal transformer section which directly tied into a 208Y/120V section.
As a result, Schmidt Associates replaced the main switchboard, transformer section, and 208Y/120V section in place with a circuit break style switchboard. Research into the existing feeders was conducted to make sure the new footprint would work without having to replace any feeders. A short-circuit/arc flash study was also performed, and the equipment received the proper labeling.
