Project Overview
A unique environment for 500 to 700 students, Garrett High School needed to respond contextually to the community that grew out of the railroad industry. With a unique, one-to-one educational platform based on the use of iPad tablets at all grade levels, the media center needed to push the envelope. Schmidt Associates created a space that encourages cooperative and collaborative learning. The renovation includes a fully functioning television studio modeled after the Today Show. The studio is located in the center of the main commons with a glass partition wall that can open to engage the studio with the commons. At Garrett High School, student projects are primarily digital and can now be broadcast over large monitors in the common area. With this unique design, Schmidt Associates was able to push the envelope and build flexibility around the students’ needs.
