Project Overview
Farm Credit Mid-America, a large financial services cooperative serving primarily Midwestern farmers, wanted to bring employees from several Kentucky locations together in one collaborative space. To do this, we helped them transform an old call center into a technology rich headquarters that oozed their brand values and history.
The company’s culture of collaboration—people working together for a purpose—drove the office’s functionality and design. This is embodied in a variety of touchdown spaces throughout the building that provide opportunities for planned and accidental interaction. The 200-seat dining area with a 40-person banquet table encourages employees not to eat alone; the first-floor beverage center is strategically placed to draw people together; and the new open central staircase facilitates interaction of employees between floors and departments.
The Farm Credit Mid-America brand and its members are also represented heavily throughout the building. Each of the three floors has a different theme related to the business: the ground floor is “small town,” the second is “agriculture,” and the third is “livestock.” Décor and conference room names on each floor are representative of their respective theme, featuring photography of real members and their farming operations.
The three-story building has a 700-person capacity and features 80 conference rooms of varying sizes, a full-service gourmet cafeteria, game room, fitness room, and state-of-the-art data center.
