Project Overview
Eli Lilly Corporation partnered with Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana to enhance the environment and the connectivity of Fall Creek for the entire community, while creating a Science Corridor for students and neighbors to learn more about their local environment. Schmidt Associates designed a series of projects all to be completed in a single day with the assistance of thousands of volunteers. Invasive plant species were removed and academic spaces installed. The spaces developed in our plan included a countertop lab space, a labyrinth, birdhouses, seating, hanging invasive wall art, and a culinary garden with a shade structure. Our Landscape Architecture team created a diverse, native planting design to support the academic space along the Science Corridor. The plants selected play a critical role in filtering the Fall Creek waters and also serve an educational purpose as the students became highly familiar with the plants through their classroom learning.
