The project was to construct a facility to be used by the University of Louisville for research. The laboratory space was to be designed in flexible modules, which could be modified when the researcher using each laboratory was determined. Spaces for frequent interaction between researchers were included in the program. This will be the third building in the University Research Complex, all designed and master-planned by AJRC. The project achieved the United States Green Building Council’s LEED Gold Certification.
CTR is the first LEED certified research building in Kentucky and the largest LEED NC gold certified research building in the country as of February 2010.
