Project Overview
The Ivy Tech Anderson Campus needed a new facility due to enrollment growth and program growth in the health sciences. Their previous facility had been converted to a Health Science training facility and K-12 facility was leased to accommodate general classroom space and advance manufacturing labs until a new building could be constructed. The College wanted a prominent community resource along the I-69 corridor to provide higher education opportunities, workforce training and in the future, conferencing capabilities.
In response to the challenges, Schmidt Associates designed a two phase plan with the first phase creating new classrooms, labs, library, bookstore and student commons. The second phase will be dedicated to the conference center, which includes meeting rooms, lecture halls, and reception space.
The key to success for the space was a full understanding of the needs of the students. Schmidt Associates incorporated this understanding into the design of the library, quiet study spaces, and student commons providing students places to go between their classes.
