Just before 5 this afternoon, Mayor Greg Ballard will help us cut the wallpaper to open the door on a new era for Schmidt Associates.

In 1986, we opened our doors on Vermont Street. Since then, we’ve continued to help Mass Ave become a cultural destination for Indianapolis. While in years past Mass Ave was not so glamorous, it is now home to local eateries, shops, bars, condos, and arts attractions.

After we cut the wallpaper on our new door facing Mass Ave, friends and employees will tour our renovated first floor and garden level spaces—from our lighted glass archway to our collaboration lab. And we’ll show off some of our more sustainable features, some “gee whiz” technology, and new ways to meet and collaborate.

Our new “storefront” at 415 Mass Ave was once an automobile dealership, a wallpaper store—hence cutting the wallpaper—and then the back door of a fledgling architecture firm.  We think those who came before us at this address would be proud to see the transformation—in Mass Ave and Schmidt Associates.

We are thrilled to face thriving Mass Ave and see it continue to flourish!
